ARLINGTON, VA (October 12, 2022) – The National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC), which represents the nation’s freight railroads in national collective bargaining, today issued the following statement:

We are pleased to announce that members of the SMART Railroad, Mechanical and Engineering Department (SMART MD) have ratified the recent tentative agreement between SMART MD and the nation’s freight railroads.

SMART MD is the fifth union to ratify an agreement resolving the current national bargaining round. Tentative agreements with six other labor organizations remain subject to ratification.
