FREIGHT RAILROADS REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH IAM

ARLINGTON, VA (September 27, 2022) – The National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC), which represents the nation’s freight railroads in national collective bargaining, today issued the following statement:

We are pleased to announce that the nation’s freight railroads have reached a tentative agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). This is the second tentative agreement between the NCCC and the IAM after an earlier tentative agreement was not ratified.

The tentative agreement implements the recommendations of Presidential Emergency Board No. 250, which include a 24 percent wage increase during the five-year period from 2020 through 2024 — with a 14.1 percent wage increase effective immediately — and five annual $1,000 lump sum payments.

With today’s announcement, all unions in the national bargaining round have ratified or are in the process of ratifying new collective bargaining agreements.
